Mass Media - 11/13 - Thanksgiving
by blair.andress on November 13th, 2007
We will be reading Schindler’s List for two more days in class. On Friday, we will begin watching the movie in class. I am excited about the opportunity to share both the novel and the movie with you. The movie is one of the most significant movies made in the last 100 years. (And I don’t believe that to be an overstatement at all!)

We are continuing to read Schindler’s List in class. You guys are doing a great job with a tough book! I look forward to watching the movie with you before we get out for Thanksgiving.
I would like to make a suggestion. Why don’t you discuss the book we are reading with your parents? Share with them the horrors of the Holocaust as described in Schindler’s List. One of the members of the class asked me a hard question today. The author described how the OD (Jewish police) were told that if they didn’t bring out a family when they were told to, their own families would be killed. One of you asked me, “What would you do if you were told to bring out a family you knew or were related to?”
Discuss the story and questions like this with your family. See what their thoughts are on the Holocaust. Remember, if we don’t know our history, we are doomed to repeat it.
